Experiences

穿越麦地 AcrossRye Art Education, Yunan, China

Fund-raiser, Organization development assistant, and Summer Art Teacher, March 2022- Current

穿越麦地 AcrossRye Art Education holds artist teaching residency in ethnic minority region, Yunan, China. It invites talented and humanitarian-minded young artists to live, teach, and learn together with local students. Yearly, I raise funds and write grants to help the organization pay the teachers and keep education free to the students. Each summer, I return to Yunnan and spend 3 weeks teaching courses, do field research, and hangout with kids.

This publication was previewed at Press Play, Pioneer works December 2023.

十日谈 The Decameron, Providence, RI, USA

Co-founder, March 2022- August 2023

十日谈 The Decameron is a Chinese-speaking community me and Helina He co-founded and co-organized at Providence. The name of this community, directly translated from Chinese is “ten days of conversations.” It is an organization dedicated to finding space for artists to connect and express using their mother tongue through workshops and panel discussions. We held events in collaboration with other communities like the Plot farm, RISD Museum, and 706 Newyork. We care and center our conversations around regenerative culture, embodied politics, free expression through art, humanity, and spirituality.

Trigger Art, online platform

Online publication director and Event manager, May 2018- October 2020

Trigger art originated at RISD as a place that gathers Chinese-speaking artists within the RISD community to meet emerging to mid-career Chinese artists through video chats. I lead the production of online publication, which included condensing 2-3 hrs of audio transcripts into 10-25 mins reading time articles, then further editing by filling in artist’s references and adjusting the article layout into publish-ready form. In the meantime, I also worked on translating English contemporary art theory essays into Chinese, arranged and assisted with online critique marathons, and was responsible for the financial administration.

Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI, USA
